As the year 2020 came to a close, the arcade racing category on iOS in Europe saw various trends in user engagement and downloads. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the performance of the top five applications in this genre.
Shortcut Run, published by Voodoo, displayed a significant increase in downloads, peaking at nearly 702K in the last week of November before tapering down to 335K by the end of December. The weekly active users followed a similar pattern, reaching a high of 1.17M in mid-November and then slightly declining to 746K active users by year's end. Revenue saw an upward trend, with the game earning $753K in the last week of December.
Another Voodoo title, Scribble Rider, experienced a steady flow of downloads, ranging from around 68K to 104K during the quarter. The weekly active users saw a decrease from 328K at the start of the quarter to 229K by the end of December. In terms of revenue, the game's earnings fluctuated, concluding the quarter with $103K in the final week.
The water slide-themed aquapark.io, also by Voodoo, had a notable increase in downloads during December, jumping from 59K to over 125K. Weekly active users showed an impressive rise towards the end of the quarter, reaching 838K in the last week of December. Revenue for this game also grew, ending the year with a substantial $561K in the final week.
Gameloft's Asphalt 9: Legends maintained a consistent download count, with a peak of 99K in October and ending with 76K in December. Weekly active users saw a progressive increase throughout the quarter, ending with 186K users. The revenue for Asphalt 9: Legends was robust, with the game earning $67K in the third week of December, its highest for the quarter.
Lastly, Red Bull's Dirt Bike Unchained saw varying download numbers, with a high of 124K in September and a low of 23K in November, but ended the quarter with a moderate 50K downloads. The weekly active users had a slight upward trend, finishing at 88K in December. The game's revenue also showed growth, with $5K in the last week of December.
