As the year 2020 came to a close, the competitive landscape of Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games on the iOS platform saw various trends in user engagement and financial performance. Data from Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into how the top five RTS applications fared in the United States during the fourth quarter of the year.
Clash Royale, published by Supercell, demonstrated a fluctuating revenue trend, peaking at $1.4M in the week of December 21. Downloads saw an uptick in the same period, reaching 91K, while weekly active users (WAUs) saw a decline from 3.4M to 2.8M by the end of December.
ToukaGames' Draw Defence showed modest revenue, with a high of $466 in late September. Downloads experienced a decrease from 41K in late September to around 26K by the end of December. The game's WAUs dipped from 67K to approximately 39K.
Art of War: Legions, from Fastone Games, saw its revenue grow from $130K to $176K, while downloads varied, with a notable surge to 25K in early November. The game's WAUs started at 115K and slightly increased to 125K by the year's end.
Riot Games' TFT: Teamfight Tactics experienced a revenue dip from $41K to under $12K, although the WAUs remained relatively stable, starting at 143K and ending at 147K. Downloads peaked at 23K in late October but fell to 8K by the end of December.
Lastly, The Battle Cats by ponos corporation saw a fluctuating revenue trend, with a high of $223K in late September and ending the quarter at $132K. Downloads and WAUs remained fairly consistent, with downloads hovering around 15K and WAUs around 112K at the quarter's end.
