In the final quarter of 2020, the convenience store sector in Latin America saw varied engagement across its top applications. Sensor Tower provides insights into the performance of these apps, emphasizing downloads and weekly active users, as revenue data was not applicable.
mi OXXO, the app by Cadena Comercial OXXO S.A de C.V., experienced a significant increase in downloads, starting at around 5K in late September and peaking at over 17K in early December. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, beginning at approximately 14K and rising to over 30K in the same period.
In contrast, 7-Eleven Mexico saw its highest downloads of over 22K in early December, with a noticeable dip to around 3K towards the end of the month. Active users peaked at around 21K in late November, before dropping to approximately 8K by the year's end.
Dollar General maintained a relatively stable presence with lower engagement levels. Downloads fluctuated modestly, ranging from a few hundred to slightly over 300 per week. Weekly active users stayed within the 3K to 3.5K range throughout the quarter.
Family Dollar presented modest download numbers that fluctuated between 86 and 254 per week. Active users showed slight variability but hovered around the low hundreds, indicating a consistent but limited user base.
Lastly, The 99 Store, with limited data, had the least engagement among the group. It started with 155 downloads in the first week of December and fell to 16 by the month's end. Active users were nominal, peaking at 59 in the first week and dropping to zero active users in the third week.
