In the final quarter of 2020, the MOBA genre saw significant activity on the unified platform in Australia. Sensor Tower's detailed analytics offer a closer look at the top five MOBA apps and their performance during this period.
League of Legends: Wild Rift, despite being a new entrant from Riot Games, showed promising signs with a sharp increase in downloads, peaking at 63K in the week of December 7th. The weekly active users followed a similar trajectory, reaching a high of 58K in mid-December. The game also saw a surge in revenue, hitting 47K USD in early December.
Brawl Stars from Supercell maintained strong performance with weekly revenues reaching up to 91K USD right before the year-end. Downloads remained steady with a slight uptick to 6K in the week of December 21st. The game sustained a robust user base, with weekly active users hovering around 200K towards the end of the quarter.
Shanghai Moonton Technology's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang also held its ground with consistent revenue, topping at 89K USD in the week leading to Christmas. Downloads and active users showed stable figures, with the latter averaging around 40K weekly.
MARVEL Realm of Champions by Kabam Games saw its release in mid-December and quickly ramped up to 13K downloads in its first full week. Active users climbed to over 9K by the end of the month. Given its recent launch, revenue figures started modestly but grew to 2.7K USD in the third week of its release.
Lastly, NetEase Games' MARVEL Super War experienced a dip in downloads and active users, ending the quarter with 271 downloads and around 3K active users in the last week of December. Revenue for the game remained relatively low throughout the quarter.
