State of AI Apps Report 2025 is Live!
In the first quarter of 2021, the Android platform saw significant activity in the fitness and weight loss app category in Europe. Data from Sensor Tower provides a detailed look into the performance of the top applications in this sector.
Strava: Run, Bike, Hike experienced a peak in revenue during the week of March 1, reaching nearly $258K, with a slight decline afterward. Downloads for the app saw a high at the start of January with over 162K new installations but gradually decreased over the quarter. The weekly active users showed an increasing trend, starting at around 2.28M at the end of December and rising to approximately 2.68M by the end of March.
YAZIO Food & Calorie Counter also saw its highest revenue early in the quarter, with over $340K in the first week of January, and a general downward trend subsequently. The app's downloads started strong at over 302K in the last week of December but reduced to around 80K by the end of March. Active users peaked in late February at over 2.1M but slightly dropped to just over 2M by the quarter's end.
Freeletics: Fitness Workouts showed a revenue trend with a peak in the first week of January at over $209K, tapering off to nearly $128K by the end of March. Downloads for Freeletics were highest at the beginning of January with 119K and gradually declined throughout the quarter. The number of active users hovered around 400K to 430K without a clear upward or downward trend.
MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter saw a revenue peak in early February at $138K, with a general downward trend afterward. The app's downloads peaked in early January with over 83K but saw a drop to around 55K by the end of March. Weekly active users reached their highest point in early March at over 900K and then decreased to approximately 823K.
Lastly, Fitbit also experienced its highest revenue in the last week of December with nearly $140K, and despite fluctuations, ended the quarter with around $85K. Downloads for Fitbit started at over 112K in the final week of December and saw a gradual decline to about 39K by the end of March. The app's active users presented a relatively stable trend, staying between 2.4M and 2.6M throughout the quarter.
