As the first quarter of 2021 has come to a close, we at Sensor Tower have taken a closer look at the performance of the top Navigation and Maps applications on Android across Europe. Here's a snapshot of how these key players fared in terms of downloads and weekly active users.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic, published by Waze from Israel, showed consistent downloads starting at 148K in the last week of December 2020, peaking at around 165K in mid-February and then again in late March. Weekly active users started at 4M and saw a peak at 4.2M towards the end of March.

From India, GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation by AppStar Studios displayed a revenue trend that started at about $1.9K and fluctuated slightly, closing the quarter around $1.8K. Downloads spiked remarkably in mid-January at 258K, while weekly active users hit their highest at 625K in the same period.

Google Earth by Google LLC, despite generating no revenue, maintained a steady download rate beginning at 113K and reaching 138K in late March. The app's weekly active users remained above 1M throughout the quarter, with a final surge to nearly 1.3M at the quarter's end.

JVSTUDIOS's GPS Maps, Navigation & Traffic, hailing from the US, showed a revenue trend starting at about $1.3K and ending the quarter at roughly $1.5K. Downloads began at 56K and saw a small rise to nearly 69K in late January, while weekly active users started around 78K and peaked at 94K in early February.

Lastly, the UK-based what3words with their what3words: Navigation & Maps application started the quarter with 82K downloads, dipping to 40K in early March, and then rebounding to 54K towards the end of March. Weekly active users saw a high of 238K at the year's start, dropping to 161K in early March, but they managed a recovery to 188K by the quarter's close.
