The first quarter of 2021 has been an exciting period for racing game enthusiasts in Europe. Data from Sensor Tower provides an overview of how the top 5 racing games have fared on the Android platform. Here's a glimpse into their performance.
Zynga's CSR 2 Realistic Drag Racing saw a downward trend in both downloads and weekly active users, starting with 93K downloads and 407K active users in the last week of December 2020, and dipping to 19K downloads and 219K active users by the end of March 2021. Revenue also saw a decrease from $296K to $157K in the same period.
Nintendo's Mario Kart Tour experienced fluctuations in downloads but managed to peak at 150K in early March. Active users started strong at 1.1M, dropped slightly, but surged to 1.47M by early March before closing the quarter at 1.22M. Revenue mirrored this pattern, starting at $166K and rising to $193K in early March, before settling at $162K at the quarter's end.
ELECTRONIC ARTS' Need for Speed™ No Limits maintained a relatively stable download count, peaking at 159K in early February and concluding the quarter with 94K. Weekly active users saw a decline from 711K to 567K. Revenue followed a similar trajectory, with a peak of $106K in late March after starting the quarter at $121K.
Real Racing 3, also from ELECTRONIC ARTS, showed a decrease in downloads from 135K to 76K, with active users decreasing from 705K to 511K. Revenue saw a rise in early March to $91K before ending at $56K.
Lastly, Gameloft SE's Asphalt 9: Legends began the quarter with 148K downloads and ended with 85K. Weekly active users decreased from 314K to 248K. The game's revenue saw a mid-quarter spike at $114K but ended the period at $50K.
