The first quarter of 2021 has been eventful for word puzzle games in Europe. Sensor Tower provides us with data that showcases how the top five games in this category have performed. Here's a glimpse into their trends without delving into the causative factors.
Wordscapes saw a noticeable trend in its downloads, starting at 192K in the last week of December 2020 and experiencing a peak of 171K in the last week of March 2021. Weekly active users began at 698K and increased to 666K by the end of March, while revenue showed a slight downward trend from 76K USD to 64K USD in the same period.
Scrabble® GO - New Word Game downloads fluctuated, peaking at 103K in the second week of February before dropping to 66K by the end of March. The game's weekly active users started strong at 847K and had a gradual decline to 814K, with revenue also showing a general decrease from 55K USD to 51K USD.
Wort Guru experienced a significant decline in downloads from 257K to 94K over the quarter. The active user base also reduced from 1.1M to 802K, but the revenue figures saw some fluctuations, starting at 38K USD and ending at 34K USD in March.
Words With Friends 2 Word Game showed a downward trend in both downloads and weekly active users, with downloads decreasing from 49K to 19K and active users dropping from 338K to 301K. Revenue remained relatively stable, starting at 28K USD and ending at 26K USD.
Wordzee! - Puzzle Word Game downloads saw a decrease from 20K to 10K, and the number of weekly active users dropped from 116K to 111K. Revenue, however, showed a slight increase from 27K USD in the last week of December to 27K USD in the last week of March.
