State of AI Apps Report 2025 is Live!
The third quarter of 2021 saw interesting trends in the performance of the top 5 virtual pet apps on the Android platform in the United States. Based on Sensor Tower data, here are the key insights:
My Talking Angela 2 by Outfit7 Limited experienced a notable debut post its release in mid-July 2021. Weekly downloads peaked at around 335K in the week of July 19 before gradually declining to approximately 50K by the end of September. Revenue followed a similar trend, starting at $2.5K and reaching its highest at nearly $22K in early August, before tapering off to about $6K towards the end of the quarter. The app's active users surged initially from 156K to 630K within a few weeks, but eventually declined to around 256K by the quarter's end.
My Talking Tom Friends also from Outfit7 Limited, maintained a steady performance. Weekly downloads hovered around 80K in early July and gradually decreased to about 40K by late September. Revenue showed minor fluctuations, generally staying within the range of $3K to $4.5K throughout the quarter. Active users initially were over 1M but saw a steady decline, ending the quarter at approximately 729K.
My Talking Tom 2, another popular app from the same publisher, had a consistent performance with weekly downloads ranging from around 104K at the start of July to 44K by the end of September. Revenue peaked at $10K in mid-July and then saw a slight decline, finishing the quarter at approximately $5.8K. Active users were relatively stable, starting at 779K and ending at around 605K.
My Talking Angela, an older yet still popular app, saw weekly downloads fluctuate between 51K and 19K throughout the quarter. Revenue gradually decreased from around $4.5K at the start of July to approximately $1.4K by the end of September. Active users also saw a decline from 442K to about 332K over the same period.
Finally, Fluvsies Pocket World by TutoTOONS, released in early July 2021, had an initial spike in downloads, reaching around 74K in mid-July before dropping to about 10K by the end of September. Revenue was modest, peaking at $331 in mid-July and then declining to around $13 towards the end of the quarter. Active users followed a similar pattern, starting strong at 38K and peaking at 97K, before decreasing to approximately 28K by late September.
