In the third quarter of 2021, the city building game genre saw significant activity in Europe. Here’s a detailed look at the performance of the top 5 city building game applications on a unified platform, based on data from Sensor Tower.
SimCity BuildIt from Electronic Arts experienced fluctuations in its weekly revenue, peaking at around $223K in late July and reaching a low of nearly $174K in mid-September. Weekly downloads showed a noticeable increase in early September, jumping to approximately 77K, while weekly active users reached a high of 900K in mid-September before declining to around 768K by the end of the quarter.
The Simpsons™: Tapped Out, also from Electronic Arts, saw its weekly revenue peak at about $117K in early August, with a notable dip to roughly $70K by the end of September. Downloads remained relatively stable, hovering around 37K to 39K, while active users decreased slightly from 735K at the beginning of the quarter to 675K by the end.
The Tribez: Build a Village by Game Insight showed a consistent revenue trend, peaking at approximately $53K in late July and dropping to around $37K by the end of September. Downloads saw a significant drop from about 27K in late August to 6.9K by the end of September. Active users also saw a decline from 82K at the end of August to about 60K in late September.
Global City: Building Games from MY.GAMES B.V. experienced a revenue peak of around $43K in late August. Weekly downloads surged to nearly 59K in late August, and active users increased from around 51K at the beginning of the quarter to 82K by the end of August before settling at 66K in late September.
Megapolis: City Building Sim by Social Quantum maintained a steady revenue, peaking at approximately $36.6K in late September. Downloads were consistent, reaching a high of around 69K in late July. Active users increased steadily throughout the quarter, reaching nearly 172K by the end of September.
