State of AI Apps Report 2025 is Live!

In the third quarter of 2021, the top communication apps in Europe, including Telegram, WhatsApp Messenger, Messenger, Getcontact, and Snapchat, exhibited diverse trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active user metrics.
Telegram observed a steady climb in weekly downloads, starting from approximately 1.2M at the end of June and peaking at around 1.45M by late September. Active users also showed a gradual increase, beginning at 123M and reaching 126M towards the end of the quarter.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained strong download numbers, with fluctuations between 1.5M to 1.9M weekly. Active users remained consistently high, fluctuating around 409M to 416M throughout the quarter. Revenue saw a slight decrease from around $696 in early July to $303 by late September.
Messenger had consistent weekly downloads, ranging from about 900K to 1M. Active users hovered around the 210M mark, with minor fluctuations. Revenue remained relatively stable, peaking at $13K in early September but settling around $11K by the end of the quarter.
Getcontact experienced significant weekly revenue growth, starting at approximately $67K and reaching a peak of $127K in late September. Downloads showed a declining trend, from around 1.2M to approximately 502K weekly. Active user numbers were relatively stable, fluctuating around 6.5M to 7M.
Snapchat demonstrated steady weekly download numbers, ranging from about 800K to 980K. Active user metrics varied slightly, from 103M to 109M. Revenue showed a downward trend, starting at approximately $1.2K and dropping to around $599 by the end of the quarter.
