In Q4 2021, the top travel and local apps on the Android platform in Italy displayed diverse patterns in downloads and active user engagement. Below is an overview of the performance of the leading apps in this category, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Booking.com: Hotels & Travel maintained a steady download rate throughout the quarter, starting at about 19.4K downloads in the week of September 27 and fluctuating slightly to reach approximately 18.9K by the end of December. The app saw a peak in weekly active users at around 925.7K in late October, followed by a decline to roughly 704.3K in mid-December, before rebounding to 881.7K by the end of the year.
Google Earth experienced an upward trend in downloads, beginning with 13.5K in late September and peaking at 22K in the final week of December. Active users for Google Earth saw a slight increase over the quarter, starting at 146.3K and ending at approximately 155.7K.
Airbnb showed consistent download numbers, starting at 13.6K in late September and peaking at 17.5K in early November. The app’s weekly active users fluctuated, beginning at 218.6K in late September, dipping to 158.9K in mid-November, and recovering to about 204.8K by the end of December.
Ryanair saw relatively stable download numbers, beginning at 16.2K in the first week of the quarter and ending at 12.1K in the last week of December. The active user count for Ryanair varied throughout the quarter, starting at 114.6K, peaking at 122K in mid-October, and then declining to 104.7K by the end of December.
eDreams: Flights, Hotels, Cars experienced fluctuations in downloads, starting at 10K in late September, peaking at 13.9K in early November, and then dropping to 8.7K by the end of December. The app’s active users followed a similar pattern, beginning at 85.5K, peaking at 101.9K in early November, and ending at 90K by the end of the quarter.
