The fourth quarter of 2021 saw intriguing trends among the top 5 reference apps on iOS in the Middle East. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, provides a closer look at the weekly downloads, revenue, and active user trends for these popular applications.
Google Translate maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads peaking at around 77.9K at the end of September and gradually declining to approximately 53.1K by the end of December. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 3.2M and 3.3M throughout the quarter.
The app Athkar - أذكار experienced a notable spike in weekly downloads, especially in early December, reaching up to 20.4K. Revenue remained fairly consistent, with a peak of around $1.1K in late December. Active users hovered around the 285K mark, showing minimal changes over the quarter.
Ayah - Quran App saw its weekly downloads peak at 11.5K in mid-December, before settling at approximately 8.3K by the end of the year. The app maintained a steady active user base, ranging from 520K to 550K during the quarter.
Muslim: Azan, Qibla, Al Quran had a relatively stable download rate, with minor fluctuations, peaking at 9.3K in mid-November. Revenue saw a significant increase at the end of November, reaching up to $3.1K. Active users ranged between 65K and 71K throughout the quarter.
Lastly, Voice Translator: AI Translate experienced a peak in weekly downloads of approximately 9.2K in mid-November. Revenue saw a general upward trend, culminating at around $4.2K in the last week of December. Active users increased from 5.6K at the start of the quarter to about 9.1K by the end.
