The fourth quarter of 2021 saw varying trends in the performance of the top 5 investing and financial management apps in South Africa on a unified platform. Here’s a detailed look at their performance based on weekly downloads and active users.
Luno: Buy Bitcoin & Crypto experienced a notable fluctuation in weekly downloads. The app started the quarter with approximately 21.9K downloads, peaking at around 28.9K in the week of November 22, before declining to roughly 17.6K by the end of December. Active users followed a similar trend, starting at about 114.5K, increasing to a high of 163K in mid-October, and ending the quarter at approximately 130.7K.
EasyEquities showcased a consistent increase in downloads, starting with around 8K and reaching a peak of 14.9K in late October. Despite some fluctuations, downloads rose again to about 13.8K by the end of December. Active users showed a steady climb from 94.4K to a peak of about 115.8K in the final week of December.
MetaTrader 4 observed a stable download pattern, beginning the quarter with roughly 10.6K downloads and maintaining similar levels throughout the period, ending at around 8.8K. Active users saw a gradual decline from approximately 78.2K to about 68.5K by the end of December.
MetaTrader 5 had a steady performance in downloads, starting at around 8.4K and experiencing minor fluctuations, ending the quarter at approximately 6.4K. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at about 56.5K and concluding the quarter with roughly 54.4K.
AvaTradeGO - Trading App showed variable download trends, beginning at around 8.3K, peaking at approximately 10.2K in mid-November, and finishing the quarter at roughly 7.2K. Active users saw a slight increase from around 29.9K to a peak of about 34K in late November, ending at approximately 29.9K by the end of December.
