In Q1 2022, the top five social apps on Android in Nigeria were TikTok, Facebook Lite, Instagram, TikTok Lite - Save Data, and Instagram Lite. Here's a closer look at their performance metrics, with data sourced from Sensor Tower.
TikTok saw substantial growth in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $12.8K in the final week of January. Weekly downloads experienced fluctuations, starting at 340K and gradually decreasing to around 85K by the end of March. Active users exhibited a steady increase from 1.18M to 1.26M throughout the quarter.
Facebook Lite maintained a consistent download rate, with a high of 135K in the week of February 21. Active users showed a positive trend, growing from 4.12M in early January to 4.43M by mid-March, before slightly declining to 4.27M at the end of the quarter.
Instagram had a steady download rate, fluctuating between 49K and 78K weekly. Revenue remained modest, with weekly figures ranging from $30 to $104. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 5.02M and ending at 5.23M over the quarter.
TikTok Lite - Save Data saw its downloads peak at 85K in the week of February 21. Active users showed growth, rising from 1.94M at the start of January to 2.18M by the end of February, before slightly declining to 1.98M by the end of March.
Instagram Lite experienced a peak in downloads at 62K in late January, with a gradual decline to around 34K by the end of March. Active users showed a steady increase from 362K to 420K in mid-March, before a slight drop to 407K by the end of the quarter.
