In Q1 2022, casual games captivated audiences in the United States, with significant fluctuations in downloads, revenue, and active user metrics. Below, we examine the performance of the top five casual games based on data from Sensor Tower.
Candy Crush Saga from King maintained impressive weekly revenue, ranging from approximately $8.7M to $10.4M. Weekly downloads for the game saw a peak of around 276K in late December, gradually decreasing to 173.9K by mid-March, before recovering to 235.5K at the end of the quarter. Active users fluctuated between 2.7M and 3.2M throughout the period.
Coin Master by Moon Active experienced a steady weekly revenue, oscillating between $4.7M and $6.9M. Downloads displayed a slight decline early in the quarter, dropping to around 100K in late February, but rebounded to 169.4K by the end of March. Active users ranged from 642K to 767K, showing a stable engagement.
Pokémon GO by Niantic, Inc. saw a significant peak in revenue, reaching $7.5M in late February, with weekly revenue mostly oscillating between $2.9M and $4.0M. Downloads were relatively steady, peaking at 158.6K in late February. Active users were consistently high, ranging from 12.5M to 14.1M throughout the quarter.
Royal Match from Dream Games showed consistent weekly revenue, fluctuating between $3.8M and $4.4M. Downloads saw a decline from 188.4K in late December to a low of 127.2K in mid-March, before increasing to 152.5K by the end of the quarter. Active users remained stable, ranging from 305K to 367K.
Homescapes by Playrix maintained steady weekly revenue, ranging from $3.4M to $4.1M. Downloads peaked at 183.6K in late January but gradually declined to 124K by the end of March. Active users fluctuated between 1.2M and 1.6M.
