The first quarter of 2022 saw intriguing trends in South Africa's top horror games. Here’s a closer look at how the leading titles performed in terms of weekly downloads, revenue, and active users, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Granny by DVloper experienced a fluctuating pattern in weekly downloads, starting at around 4.6K and dipping to a low of 2.6K before climbing back to 4.4K by the end of March. Weekly active users showed a similar trend, beginning at approximately 20.7K, dropping to 15K mid-quarter, and rebounding to 21K by the quarter's end.
Granny 3, also from DVloper, saw its weekly downloads decrease from 5.3K initially to around 2.5K in early March, before a slight recovery to 3.9K by the end of the quarter. The game’s weekly active users followed this trend, starting at 13.8K, dipping to 9.2K, and then rising to 11.7K.
Granny: Chapter Two, another title from DVloper, had weekly downloads ranging from 4.3K at the start of the quarter to a low of 1.8K in early March, before recovering to 3.2K by the end of March. The weekly active users started at 29.6K, saw a low of 20.8K, and ended at 26K.
Scary Teacher 3D by Z & K Games showed a steady decline in weekly downloads from 1.9K to 1.2K over the quarter. The weekly revenue for this title saw minor fluctuations, peaking at $131 in mid-March. The weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting at 16.6K and ending at 15.3K.
Scary Horror 2: Escape Games by Escape Adventure Games had a declining trend in weekly downloads from 1.8K at the start to just 582 by the end of March. Its weekly revenue peaked at $104 in mid-January but dropped to around $36 by the end of the quarter. The weekly active users also decreased, starting at 1.9K and ending at 1.1K.
