The third quarter of 2022 saw varied performance among the top food delivery service applications in South Africa. Here, we delve into the weekly downloads, revenue, and active user trends for the leading apps: Mr D - Groceries & Takeaway, Uber Eats: Food Delivery, Bolt Food, Nespresso Middle East & Africa, and OneCart: Shopping On Demand.
Throughout Q3 2022, weekly downloads for Mr D fluctuated, peaking at approximately 34.5K in the last week of July and again at 33.5K in the final week of September. Despite these fluctuations, the app maintained a relatively stable number of weekly active users, hovering around 370K to 392K throughout the quarter.
Uber Eats experienced a mixed trend in weekly downloads, with a notable peak of around 31.8K in the last week of August. The app's weekly active users remained consistent, ranging from approximately 350K to 370K, showing slight fluctuations but overall stability.
Bolt Food saw a steady increase in weekly downloads, reaching around 9.3K by the end of July and maintaining a stable range between 6K and 8K for the rest of the quarter. The app's weekly active users showed a slight upward trend, peaking at about 125K in late July and ending the quarter at 124K.
Nespresso Middle East & Africa experienced a significant spike in downloads, reaching 11.9K in the last week of July. However, by the end of September, downloads had dropped significantly to around 827. The app's weekly active users followed a similar pattern, peaking at approximately 14.8K in late July before declining to around 7.3K by the end of the quarter.
OneCart's weekly downloads saw a notable increase in mid-August, peaking at approximately 13.3K. The app maintained a consistent download rate of around 3K to 4K for the remainder of the quarter. Active user data for OneCart was not provided.
