In the third quarter of 2022, the top five social networking applications in Madagascar exhibited diverse trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at their performance:
Messenger saw a consistent weekly revenue of around $3 to $4 throughout the quarter. Downloads peaked at approximately 14.9K in mid-July, with a notable decline to around 9.3K by the end of September. Meanwhile, active users increased steadily from about 375K in late June to over 413K by the end of the quarter.
WhatsApp Messenger did not generate any revenue during this period. However, it maintained a strong presence with downloads reaching a high of 12.4K in mid-September. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 2.5M throughout the quarter.
Facebook generated higher weekly revenues, ranging from $83 to $96. Weekly downloads peaked at around 20.7K in early August but fell to approximately 10.8K by the end of September. The app also saw a gradual increase in active users, starting at around 195K and reaching over 225K by the quarter's end.
Telegram Messenger recorded modest weekly revenues between $1 and $5. Downloads showed a fluctuating trend, peaking at around 2.9K in late June and tapering off to about 2.4K by the end of September. Active users increased from about 86K to nearly 95K over the same period.
Skype achieved varied weekly revenues, with a notable spike to $158 in early July. Downloads fluctuated, peaking at around 791 in mid-September, while active users showed a slight decline from 5.3K to 5K throughout the quarter.
