The fourth quarter of 2022 saw significant activity in the food delivery services sector in the United States. Here’s a detailed look at the performance of the top 5 food delivery apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Weekly downloads for DoorDash - Food Delivery exhibited a relatively stable trend, starting at approximately 379K in late September and peaking at around 456K in the final week of December. Weekly active users fluctuated throughout the quarter, beginning at 18.7M and ending at 18.5M.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery experienced a steady stream of downloads, starting at about 275K and hitting 267K by the end of December. Active users showed a slight decline from 14.9M to 14M over the same period.
Instacart: Groceries & Food saw a consistent increase in weekly downloads, rising from 185K at the start of the quarter to 187K by its close. Active users hovered around the 1.8M mark, indicating steady engagement.
DoorDash - Dasher maintained a healthy download rate throughout Q4 2022, starting at 156K and seeing a peak of 197K in early December. Active users showed a gradual increase from 2.4M to 2.6M by the end of the quarter.
Grubhub: Food Delivery had variable weekly downloads, starting at 131K and closing the quarter at 132K. Active users also fluctuated, beginning at 2.4M and ending at approximately 2.1M.
