In the first quarter of 2023, the top 5 food and diet tracking apps on iOS in the United States showed varying performance trends in terms of weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at the data from Sensor Tower.
MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter experienced significant fluctuations in its weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $2.6M in the week of January 30. The app's weekly downloads started strong with 128K in the first week of January, and although there was a general decline, it ended March with nearly 100K downloads. Active users for this app showed a slight decrease from 3.5M in early January to about 3.3M by the end of March.
Yuka - Food & Cosmetic Scanner saw a steady increase in weekly revenue, reaching around $48K in the last week of March. The app's weekly downloads were quite variable, peaking at 133K in the final week of March. Active users also rose steadily, starting at 289K in late December and growing to 394K by the end of the quarter.
BMI Calculator – Weight Loss showed notable spikes in weekly downloads, with a significant peak of 175K in the week of January 30. However, by the end of March, downloads had dropped to just over 6K. Active users followed a similar pattern, peaking at 165K in late January before declining to 33K by the end of March.
Lose It! – Calorie Counter recorded its highest weekly revenue of approximately $745K in the first week of January. Weekly downloads were highest at 48K in early January, and although they slightly decreased over the quarter, they remained relatively stable around 38K. Active users saw a peak of 1.08M in early January, gradually decreasing to 961K by the end of March.
Noom Weight Loss, Food Tracker achieved its highest weekly revenue of $470K in the second week of January. The app's weekly downloads peaked at 67K in early January but had a downward trend, ending March with around 26K. Active users started at 464K in early January and ended the quarter at 380K.
