The first quarter of 2023 saw interesting trends in the performance of the top 5 word puzzle games on iOS in Australia. Here’s a detailed look at each app:
Wordscapes from PeopleFun, Inc. showed a steady decline in weekly revenue, starting at around $15K in late December and decreasing to approximately $11.2K by the end of March. Weekly downloads followed a similar downward trend initially, bottoming out at 4.5K in early February, but then saw a resurgence, peaking at 8.2K in the last week of March. Active users fluctuated throughout the quarter, starting at 83.6K and ending at around 77.2K.
Wordle! by Lion Studios Plus experienced variable weekly revenue, starting at $4.2K in late December and dipping to around $2.5K in early March before climbing back up to $2.6K by the end of the quarter. Downloads peaked in late December at 10.8K and saw a general decline, stabilizing around 4.6K towards the end of March. Active users saw a significant drop from 80.6K in late December to 61.8K in late February, but showed some recovery, ending the quarter at 67.3K.
NYT Games: Word Games & Sudoku from The New York Times Company maintained relatively stable weekly revenue, fluctuating between $2.9K and $3.7K throughout the quarter. Downloads saw minor fluctuations, ranging from 3.1K to 3.9K. Active users exhibited a consistent upward trend, starting at 23.1K in late December and reaching 33.4K by the end of March.
Figgerits - Word Puzzle Games by Hitapps Inc showed modest weekly revenue, starting at $219 in late December and reaching a low of $102 by the end of March. Downloads saw an initial drop from 3.7K to 2.0K but spiked to 5.2K in mid-March before settling at 1.5K towards the end of the quarter. Active users peaked at 16.5K in mid-March but decreased to 11.8K by the end of March.
Wordscapes Search, also from PeopleFun, Inc., saw fluctuations in weekly revenue, starting at $130 in late December and peaking at $448 in early March before dropping to $283 by the end of the quarter. Downloads decreased from 5.3K in late December to 2.0K in early February but then increased, reaching 4.0K in mid-March. Active users showed a consistent rise, starting at 48.5K and ending at 41.8K.
