In Q1 2023, the top 5 communication apps in Costa Rica—WhatsApp Messenger, Messenger, Snapchat, Telegram, and WhatsApp Business—demonstrated distinctive trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Data from Sensor Tower reveals these patterns, offering insights into their performance.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a steady weekly revenue, peaking at $7 in the second week of January. Weekly downloads saw significant fluctuations, starting at around 24.6K and reaching a high of approximately 43K in late February. Weekly active users remained consistently high, fluctuating slightly around 3.4M.
Messenger showed relatively stable weekly downloads, hovering between 15K and 20K. The number of weekly active users remained steady, averaging around 490K throughout the quarter.
Snapchat experienced a varied revenue stream, peaking at $140 in mid-March. Weekly downloads also fluctuated, starting at 15.4K and reaching up to 20.5K. The app's weekly active users showed a slight decline from 850K at the start of the quarter to around 775K by the end.
Telegram saw a significant peak in revenue, reaching $685 in late February. Weekly downloads ranged from 9.9K to 17K, with a notable increase in mid-March. The number of weekly active users remained relatively stable, averaging around 280K.
WhatsApp Business maintained consistent weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 14.2K in mid-March. Weekly active users showed a gradual increase, starting at 256K and reaching around 269K by the end of the quarter.
