The first quarter of 2023 saw diverse performance trends among the top 5 insurance apps in Australia on a unified platform, according to Sensor Tower data. Here’s a closer look at how each app fared in terms of weekly downloads and active users.
My Medibank experienced a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at around 4.2K in late December and peaking at approximately 6.7K in the week of February 20. Active users also followed a similar upward trend, rising from about 14.6K in late December to around 17.6K in late February, before stabilizing around the 16K mark towards the end of March.
My NRMA saw fluctuations in its weekly downloads, with a high of 6.3K in late December dropping to around 4.7K in early January and then peaking again at approximately 6.1K in the week of February 20. Active users for the app showed a more consistent pattern, starting at 12.2K in late December and maintaining a range between 10K and 11.5K throughout the quarter.
AAMI App had a notable increase in weekly downloads, beginning at 2.8K in late December and reaching a peak of about 6.1K in the week of February 20. The app’s active users steadily grew from 41.4K in late December to approximately 48K by the end of March.
nib Health showed a gradual increase in weekly downloads, starting at 2.2K in late December and peaking at around 4.1K in late March. Active users followed a similar positive trend, rising from 17.5K in late December to over 20K by the end of March.
Simples: Compare & Save had a significant spike in weekly downloads, reaching a high of 9.4K in mid-January. However, the app saw a decline in downloads thereafter, dropping to around 912 in late March.
