In the first quarter of 2023, the top five music and podcast applications in the Netherlands showcased diverse performance trends across weekly downloads, revenue, and active users on a unified platform, according to data from Sensor Tower.
Podimo: Podcasts & audiobooks saw a significant increase in weekly revenue, peaking at around $29K in mid-February. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 2.9K and 3.8K. Active users showed a slight decline, starting at approximately 18K and ending the quarter with about 17.9K.
YouTube Music experienced consistent weekly revenue, with a peak of $16.6K in late February. The app's weekly downloads ranged from 4K to 5.2K, while active users demonstrated an upward trend, reaching over 1M in mid-March before slightly dropping to 943K by the end of the quarter.
Deezer: Music Player, Podcast had stable weekly revenue, with a high of $15.8K at the end of February. Weekly downloads varied, peaking at 3.3K in mid-February. Active users remained steady, hovering around 350K throughout the quarter.
Spotify - Music and Podcasts showed a notable increase in weekly revenue, reaching $17.7K in mid-March. Weekly downloads fluctuated between 20.7K and 28.4K, while active users stayed consistently high, averaging around 4.8M during the quarter.
SoundCloud: Discover New Music also demonstrated varied performance, with weekly revenue peaking at $12K in late February. Downloads ranged between 5.3K and 7K, and active users remained steady, averaging around 590K.
