During the first quarter of 2023, the top 5 social apps in Madagascar—TikTok, Chamet - Live Video Chat, Bigo Live - Live Streaming App, Facebook, and Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat—exhibited diverse performance trends in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at their performance:
TikTok saw fluctuations in weekly downloads, peaking at about 14.2K in the first week of January and dipping to 8.5K by the end of March. The app's weekly revenue remained relatively stable, hovering around $1K throughout the quarter, while active users increased from approximately 114.6K to 137.4K.
Chamet - Live Video Chat experienced a notable rise in weekly revenue, reaching $172 by the end of March. Downloads showed a significant increase, climbing from 60 to 181 weekly. Active users also saw growth, starting at 381 and ending the quarter at 628.
Bigo Live - Live Streaming App displayed varied trends with a peak in weekly downloads at 147 in mid-March. Revenue remained modest, peaking at $392 in the first week of January. Active users showed a slight increase, ending the quarter at 1.2K.
Facebook maintained a strong presence with downloads ranging from 11.7K to 19.9K weekly. Revenue stayed relatively stable, around $70 to $107 weekly. Active users consistently increased, reaching approximately 266.1K by the end of March.
Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat showed a steady increase in active users, starting at 476 and ending at 744. Downloads saw a spike in March, peaking at 87. Revenue also saw an upward trend, peaking at $121 in mid-March.
