In the second quarter of 2023, the Food and Drink category saw significant activity across the top five applications on a unified platform in the United States. Here’s a detailed look at how these apps performed, based on data from Sensor Tower.
McDonald's showed a consistent increase in weekly downloads, starting at 438K in late March and peaking at 548K by the end of June. Weekly active users also exhibited a steady rise, reaching approximately 10.2M by the last week of June.
DoorDash - Food Delivery experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, starting at 428K in late March, dipping to around 323K mid-April, and climbing back to 375K by the end of June. Weekly active users saw slight variations but generally hovered around the 18.5M to 20M range throughout the quarter.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery maintained a relatively stable download rate, starting at 247K in late March and ending at 267K by the end of June. Active user trends for this app showed minor fluctuations, with a peak of 14.9M in early May and stabilizing around 14.3M by the end of June.
Starbucks saw a modest increase in downloads, starting at 194K in late March and reaching 211K by the end of June. Active users for Starbucks showed a slight decline over the quarter, starting at 4.8M and ending at approximately 4.6M.
Dairy Queen® Food & Treats experienced a significant spike in downloads in early April with 779K, followed by a decline to 72K by the end of June. Active users mirrored this trend, peaking at 805K in early April and stabilizing around 233K towards the end of the quarter.
