In the second quarter of 2023, the performance of the top 5 travel applications in the Middle East showed varied trends across downloads and active users. This data, sourced from Sensor Tower, provides key insights into the travel app market in the region.

Starting at around 362K downloads in late March, there was a notable decline, bottoming out at approximately 18K in mid-June before a slight recovery to 35.7K by the end of June. Weekly active users followed a similar pattern, starting near 975K and dipping to just over 304K in early June, with a rebound to around 466K by the end of the quarter.
Booking.com: Hotels & Travel showed a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting with 41.3K in late March and peaking at 69.4K by the end of June. The app also maintained a growing trend in weekly active users, starting at 1.1M and reaching approximately 1.28M by the end of the quarter.
Uber - Request a ride saw consistent growth in weekly downloads, beginning at 43.7K in late March and peaking at 80.8K by the end of June. The app maintained a strong user base with weekly active users starting at around 1.57M and gradually increasing to approximately 1.73M by the end of the quarter.
Airalo: eSIM Travel & Internet experienced a progressive increase in weekly downloads, starting with 29.4K in late March and reaching 62.6K by the end of June. Weekly active users showed a similar upward trend, growing from around 33.8K to approximately 67.2K over the same period.
Lastly, Bolt: Request a Ride also exhibited growth in weekly downloads, beginning at 22.5K in late March and peaking at 48.4K by the end of June. Weekly active users for Bolt increased steadily from around 190K to approximately 218K during the quarter.
