In the third quarter of 2023, the top navigation and maps applications on the Android platform in Europe demonstrated varying trends in downloads, active users, and revenue. Here’s a closer look at the performance of these apps.
Throughout the quarter, Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads peaking at approximately 296K in mid-August. The app saw a gradual decline in downloads towards the end of the quarter, settling around 212K in the last week of September. Active user numbers were robust, starting at about 4.6M in late June and reaching a peak of around 5.1M in mid-August, before slightly declining to 4.5M by the end of September.
Yandex Maps and Navigator experienced a decline in weekly downloads over the quarter, starting at 251K in late June and dropping to around 167K by the end of September. Despite this, the app maintained a solid active user base, with numbers fluctuating around 10.5M to 11.6M throughout the quarter.
Yandex Navigator showed a consistent drop in weekly downloads, beginning the quarter at 202K and ending at approximately 126K. Similarly, active user trends reflected a slight decline, starting at nearly 3.9M in late June and ending at about 3.5M by the close of September.
Google Earth maintained relatively stable weekly download numbers, with minor fluctuations around the 110K mark throughout the quarter. Active users showed a slight decrease from approximately 1.3M in late June to around 1.1M by the end of September.
Radarbot Speed Camera Detector saw a significant peak in weekly downloads at 128K in mid-July, followed by a gradual decline to about 74K by the end of September. Revenue trends were positive, peaking at around $29K in mid-August and ending the quarter with a slight decrease to approximately $21K. Active user numbers showed stability, fluctuating around 250K to 300K throughout the quarter.
