During the third quarter of 2023, the top 5 communication apps in the United Arab Emirates showed varied trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a detailed look at the performance of WhatsApp Business, imo-International Calls & Chat, WhatsApp Messenger, Messenger, and Botim - Video and Voice Call.
WhatsApp Business experienced a noticeable increase in weekly downloads, peaking at around 87.4K in mid-September. Although active users saw a slight decline from 2.19M in early July to about 1.84M at the end of September, the app maintained a robust user base throughout the quarter.
For imo-International Calls & Chat, weekly revenue fluctuated, reaching a high of approximately $16.3K in the first week of September. Downloads remained relatively stable, with a peak of 52.6K in mid-September. Active users saw a gradual decline from about 3.69M in late June to 3.39M by the end of September.
WhatsApp Messenger showed consistent weekly download numbers, with a peak of 78.9K in mid-July. However, active users decreased from about 6.19M in late June to approximately 5.55M by the end of the quarter.
Messenger had a modest weekly revenue, peaking at $825 in late July. Weekly downloads remained steady, with a slight increase to 44.9K by the end of September. Active users hovered around 2.69M throughout the quarter, showing minor fluctuations.
Finally, Botim - Video and Voice Call saw a peak in weekly downloads at 69.7K in early September. Revenue also peaked at approximately $7K in mid-August. Active users, however, showed a decline from 2.17M in late June to around 1.69M by mid-September.
