In Q3 2023, the top five fitness and weight loss apps in the United States showed varied performance across downloads, revenue, and weekly active users, according to Sensor Tower data.
Planet Fitness Workouts experienced a significant decline in downloads, starting at 301K in late June and dropping to around 151K by the end of September. Revenue fluctuated moderately, peaking at approximately $4.8K in late June and ending the quarter at nearly $3.9K. Weekly active users saw a downward trend, moving from 4.2M in late June to about 3.2M at the end of September.
Yuka - Food & Cosmetic Scanner had a steady revenue stream, with weekly earnings starting at $68K in late June and ending at around $50K by late September. Downloads decreased from roughly 186K to 110K over the quarter. The app's weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating around 550K.
JustFit: Lazy Workout & Fit showed strong revenue performance in July, peaking at nearly $398K. However, it saw a decline to about $297K by the end of September. Downloads followed a similar trend, starting at 135K in late June and decreasing to 87K by late September. Weekly active users remained stable, averaging around 600K throughout the quarter.
BetterMe: Health Coaching experienced consistent revenue growth, starting at $292K in late June and peaking at approximately $382K in early August before ending the quarter at around $349K. Downloads saw a decline from 98K in late June to 75K by the end of September. Weekly active users followed a similar trend, decreasing from 424K to 391K over the quarter.
MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter demonstrated strong revenue performance, starting at approximately $2.3M in late June and maintaining around $2M throughout the quarter. Downloads fluctuated, peaking at 125K in mid-August and ending at 112K in late September. Weekly active users showed a slight decline from 3.5M in late June to about 3.1M by the end of the quarter.
