In the third quarter of 2023, the performance of the top 5 insurance apps in South Africa on a unified platform showcased interesting trends in weekly downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at their metrics:
Discovery saw a fluctuation in weekly downloads, starting strong with approximately 6.8K in late June, peaking at 8.4K in early July, and then experiencing a gradual decline, closing the quarter with roughly 4.9K downloads in the final week of September. Weekly active users for Discovery remained relatively stable, beginning at around 73.3K and ending at approximately 68.1K.
Clientèle demonstrated a positive trend in weekly downloads, starting at about 4.6K in late June and steadily increasing to a peak of 6.5K in mid-September. The app's weekly active users also showed consistent growth, beginning at approximately 78.5K and reaching around 88.9K by the end of the quarter.
OUTsurance maintained a stable pattern in weekly downloads, with figures hovering around the 2.5K mark throughout the quarter. Weekly active users for OUTsurance showed minor fluctuations but remained steady, starting at about 6.3K and closing the quarter at roughly 6.0K.
Santam Switch experienced significant variability in weekly downloads. The app began with lower numbers, around 927 in late June, but saw a dramatic increase to 8.3K in early September before tapering off to approximately 1.4K by the end of the quarter.
Naked Insurance had a relatively consistent performance in weekly downloads, starting at about 1.6K in late June and maintaining similar levels throughout the quarter, ending with roughly 1.6K downloads in the final week of September.
