As the year 2023 came to a close, the health and wellness sector continued to thrive with various food and diet tracking applications competing for the attention of health-conscious users. In the United Kingdom, five apps stood out in the fourth quarter for their performance on the Android platform. Sensor Tower provides deeper insights into the metrics that shaped these apps' standing.
Nutracheck's Calorie Counter + saw its revenue peak at roughly $59K in the week of September 25th but experienced a gradual decrease, ending the quarter at about $55K. Downloads had a more varied trajectory, starting at 6K and spiking to nearly 7.7K in mid-November, before climbing to over 7K by the year's end. The app's weekly active users showcased a modest growth from approximately 56K to 57K early in the quarter but dipped to around 49K in early December, rebounding to 56K towards the end of the period.
MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter maintained a relatively stable revenue, with minor fluctuations, starting at close to $50K and dipping to around $38K in mid-December, before a slight recovery to nearly $38K. Downloads hit their peak at 9.5K in early November but fell to about 3.4K later that month, ultimately seeing a resurgence to over 6K in the final week. Weekly active users of MyFitnessPal began at approximately 134K, saw a decrease during the quarter, and ended at around 97K.
Chello Publishing Limited's Carbs & Cals: Diet & Diabetes app showed revenue starting at $5K and ending the quarter near the same mark. The app's downloads remained under 1K throughout the quarter, with a slight peak at 510 in mid-October.
WeightWatchers: Weight Health app's revenue saw a downward trend, from approximately $4.2K to $3.5K. Downloads for the app were highest at the start of the quarter with 588 but ended with a significant rise to over 1.4K. Weekly active users fluctuated, peaking at over 13K in early November and dropping to 8K by Christmas.
Lastly, BodyFast GmbH's BodyFast: Intermittent Fasting app experienced a revenue decline from about $3.2K to $2.9K. Downloads varied, with a peak of 1.7K in early October and a notable increase to over 2.4K in the last week of December. The active user count for BodyFast started at approximately 10K, peaked at nearly 11K, and ended the quarter at over 10K.
