In the fourth quarter of 2023, the top 5 navigation and maps applications on the Android platform in Portugal showcased various trends in downloads, revenue, and weekly active users. Here’s a closer look at how these apps performed, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic
The app saw a fluctuating trend in downloads, starting the quarter with around 13.7K downloads and experiencing a dip mid-quarter before rebounding to approximately 12.7K by the end of December. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting at 166K and ending the quarter around 163K.
Downloads for Google Earth showed a declining trend throughout the quarter, beginning with 2.8K downloads and dropping to about 2.1K by the last week of December. Weekly active users also followed a downward trajectory, starting at 25K and ending at approximately 22K.
This app displayed a varied performance in downloads, peaking at around 2.5K in the first week of October and falling to around 910 by the end of the quarter. Revenue showed sporadic gains, with peaks of approximately $56 in early November and late December. Weekly active users also saw a decline from 8.9K at the start to about 5.4K by the end of December.
Live Earth Map: Street View 3D
Downloads for Live Earth Map spiked mid-quarter, reaching around 5.7K in the second week of October but settled at about 1.4K by the end of December. Weekly active users followed a similar trend, peaking at nearly 11.7K in early October and ending the quarter with approximately 6.4K.
Google Maps Go maintained a consistent download rate, with minor fluctuations, starting the quarter at 699 downloads and ending with approximately 810. Weekly active users showed a steady increase from 5.4K to about 6.1K over the quarter.
