As the year wrapped up, the fitness and weight loss category on iOS saw varied performance among its leading apps in the United States. Sensor Tower's comprehensive data provides insights into how these apps fared in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Planet Fitness Workouts experienced a fluctuating quarter with downloads peaking at 149K in the last week of December. The app's weekly active users showed a similar trend, reaching a high of 2.3M in the same period, while revenue dipped to 968K in mid-October before rallying to just over 1M USD by the year's end.
Yuka - Food & Cosmetic scanner also saw a spike in revenue, reaching 48K USD in the final week of December. Downloads for Yuka had a notable increase to 109K in the same week, with weekly active users experiencing a slight decline to 387K.
For MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter, revenue was at its highest in the last week of December at 1.8M USD, despite a drop in downloads to 76K. The app's active users decreased over the quarter, ending at 2.2M.
BetterMe: Health Coaching saw its revenue soar to over 400K USD by December's end. Downloads jumped to 145K in the same timeframe, and active users more than doubled, reaching 474K.
Lastly, JustFit: Lazy Workout & Fit closed the quarter on a high note with revenue climbing to 372K USD and downloads surging to 122K. The app's weekly active users increased significantly to 583K.
