In the fourth quarter of 2023, the peer-to-peer payment space on iOS in the United States saw varying levels of user engagement and downloads among the top applications. Sensor Tower provides detailed insights into the performance of these apps.
Cash App maintained a consistent download trend with numbers fluctuating around the 300K mark, peaking at 335K in the final week of December. The app's weekly active users saw a high of 14.9M in the week of October 30th, with a general downward trend towards 12.7M by the year's end.
Venmo experienced a slight decrease in downloads over the quarter, starting at 246K and dipping to 191K by the last week of December. Its active users peaked at approximately 12.1M in the last week of November but ended the quarter with around 10.3M users.
Zelle downloads also showed a slight declining trend from 189K in late September to 158K by the close of December. Weekly active users hovered around the 800K mark, with a slight dip to 796K in the final week of the quarter.
OPay-We are beyond Banking saw downloads ranging from approximately 11K at the start of the quarter down to 8.4K in the last week. Active users showed more stability, remaining around the 130K to 140K range throughout the quarter.
PalmPay also exhibited a consistent pattern in downloads, starting at 9.8K and ending the quarter with 7.2K downloads. The app's weekly active users demonstrated a gentle decrease from 137K to 125K by the end of Q4.
