As the year wrapped up, the Match 3 gaming category saw fluctuating but still robust numbers in the United States. Sensor Tower provided us with the data for the top five games in this category, showcasing their performance in Q4 of 2023.
Royal Match, published by Dream Games, maintained a steady revenue around $8M to $10M, with a noticeable peak in the last week of December reaching over $10M. Downloads saw a gradual increase from 310K to 493K, while weekly active users saw a slight decline from 1.4M to 1.25M.
Fishdom by Playrix saw revenues ranging between $2.5M and $3M, ending the quarter on a high note with nearly $3M. Downloads showed an upward trend, moving from 96K to 269K. Active users experienced a significant uptick in November, reaching over 800K before settling at 777K by year's end.
King's Candy Crush Saga consistently generated high revenues, staying between $7M and $8M, and culminating in $8M by the last week of December. Downloads followed an upward trajectory, concluding the quarter with nearly 300K. The game's active users varied, peaking at 2.38M in early October and closing the quarter with 2.28M.
Rollic Games' Merge the Jelly, despite being a newer entrant, showed a positive trend in downloads, from 15K to over 100K, and its active users grew impressively from 13K to 202K. Since revenue was not a primary metric for this game, the focus was on its growth in user base.
Project Makeover by Magic Tavern, Inc. had a steady revenue around $1.5M to $1.8M. Downloads had slight fluctuations but ended on a high note with 130K in the last week. Active users saw a peak in late October at 934K and remained strong with 875K by the end of December.
