During the fourth quarter of 2023, the performance metrics for the top five navigation and maps applications in El Salvador revealed interesting trends in downloads, revenue, and weekly active users. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, provides valuable insights into the market dynamics of this app category.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw a notable increase in downloads, starting from approximately 10.5K in late September and peaking at around 13.1K in mid-December. Weekly active users also showed an upward trend, beginning at 178K and reaching a high of 195K in mid-December.
Google Maps experienced steady download numbers, fluctuating between 2.3K and 3.4K throughout the quarter. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, with a slight increase from 126K at the end of September to a peak of 133K in early December before settling back to 126K by the end of the quarter.
Google Earth displayed a more varied download pattern, starting at 1.3K in late September, reaching a high of 2K in mid-November, and then declining to 1.2K by the end of December. Weekly active users showed a similar trend, beginning at 13.6K and peaking at 15.7K in mid-November before stabilizing around 12.7K at the end of the quarter.
GPS Earth Maps Live Navigation had fluctuating download figures, with initial numbers around 1.1K rising to a peak of 2K in late October, and then declining to 924 by the end of December. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, starting at 3.2K in late September, peaking at 4.7K in late October, and ending at 4.2K in late December.
Lastly, GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation showed consistent download numbers, ranging from 345 to 472 throughout the quarter. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, with minor fluctuations between 1.4K and 1.6K.
