As we close out the fourth quarter of 2023, the virtual fitness app market in France has shown some interesting trends across the board. Sensor Tower's data provides us with a clear view of how the top five virtual fitness programs have performed on a unified platform, encompassing both iOS and Android.
Strava: Run, Bike, Hike experienced a notable surge in weekly active users, jumping from approximately 977K in late September to over 1M by the end of December. Downloads peaked at around 41K in the final week of December, while revenue also saw an uptick, reaching over $100K in the same period.
Iphigénie | The Hiking Map App showed a consistent performance in revenue throughout the quarter, with a slight increase to around $36K by December end. The app's downloads and weekly active users saw a gradual decline, but finished the quarter with a slight increase to 1K downloads and approximately 12K active users.
The fitness coaching app Trainsweateat - Coach Fitness recorded revenues fluctuating around the mid-$20K range, with a slight decrease to $25K by the end of December. Downloads and active users saw dips and rises, ending the year with around 2K downloads and 20K active users.
Freeletics: Workouts & Fitness saw a significant leap in downloads in mid-November, reaching close to 4.5K, and ended the quarter with around 3K downloads. The app's weekly active users spiked at over 55K in late November, while revenue saw a gradual increase, finishing at approximately $34K.
Lastly, Zwift: Ride and Run had a steady climb in weekly active users, ending with nearly 8K in the final week of December. Downloads for Zwift also saw an increase over the quarter, peaking at around 1.9K. Revenue maintained a steady pace, with a slight increase to just over $22K by the year's end.
