In the first quarter of 2024, the beauty retail app landscape on Android in the United States has shown an array of download and user engagement figures. Sensor Tower's data offers us a clear perspective on how these apps have performed.
Flip.shop, despite having no revenue, saw an initial spike in downloads, reaching upwards of 50K in the second week but experienced a gradual decline over the quarter, stabilizing at around 9K downloads by the end of March. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, peaking early at over 46K and dropping to approximately 21K.
Sephora: Buy Makeup & Skincare also reported no revenue, yet the downloads fluctuated, with a notable rise to over 26K downloads in late February and late March. The app's weekly active users started strong at 218K, saw a dip mid-quarter, and then climbed back up to roughly 245K by the end of March, indicating a resilient user base.
Ulta Beauty: Makeup & Skincare followed a similar pattern with no revenue to report. Downloads saw a mixed trend with peaks and troughs, ending the quarter at about 7K. Active users started at around 185K, dipped in the middle of the quarter, and ended at approximately 143K.
CHARLOTTE TILBURY showed an exciting trend with a significant jump to nearly 20K downloads in the third week of February, but this trend did not sustain, and downloads settled to around 3K by the end of March. There is no data on weekly active users for this app.
Lastly, IPSY: Personalized Beauty had no revenue but maintained a steady download rate, ending the quarter with nearly 4K downloads. Its weekly active users showed minimal fluctuation, with a high of over 60K in the first week of January and concluding the quarter with about 55K active users.
