In Q1 2024, the Australian food delivery market on Android saw varied performance across its leading service providers. Here's a snapshot of how the top five apps fared, with data courtesy of Sensor Tower.
DoorDash - Food Delivery observed a fluctuating trend in downloads, starting at roughly 8K in the first week of January and peaking at around 12K towards the end of February. Weekly active users began at 313K and saw an increase to 350K in the same period, ending the quarter with a slight decline to 312K.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery experienced a similar pattern in downloads, with an initial 6K that rose to nearly 9K by the end of January, followed by a stabilization around 6-7K towards the end of March. Weekly active users for Uber Eats remained robust with an initial 349K, dipping slightly mid-quarter, and then reaching the highest point at 365K in the final week.
Menulog AU | Food Delivery showed more consistency in downloads, hovering around 3-4K throughout the quarter. Active users for Menulog started at approximately 52K and had a marginal decline to 48K by the end of March.
DoorDash - Dasher, the companion app for DoorDash drivers, saw an upward trajectory in downloads, from about 1K to 2.7K in mid-February, before settling back to 2K by the quarter's end. Active users displayed a modest increase from roughly 15K to 16K, with a slight drop towards the end of March.
HelloFresh: Meal Kit Delivery, while not a traditional food delivery service, competes in the same space with a unique offering. Downloads for HelloFresh peaked at nearly 3K in mid-January and then gradually decreased to 1.2K. Weekly active users began at 60K, dipped to just over 50K, and experienced a spike to 56K in the second week of March.
