In the first quarter of 2024, the Match 3 gaming category has shown varying levels of player engagement and financial performance on the Android platform in France. Sensor Tower provides a closer look at the top 5 games in this genre.
Candy Crush Saga by King maintained its popularity with revenues peaking at $417K in mid-January before settling to $225K by the end of March. Downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of around 19K in late February. Weekly active users started strong at 334K but saw a dip to 292K in mid-March, recovering slightly to 315K by the quarter's end.
Royal Match from Dream Games, Ltd. also experienced a revenue high in mid-January at $320K, concluding the quarter at around $180K. The game's downloads surged to 85K in the third week of February but later dropped to 32K by late March. The weekly active users showed a steady trend, starting at 548K and gently decreasing to 566K over the quarter.
Playrix's Gardenscapes saw revenues grow to $228K in the third week of January, then declining to $156K by the close of March. Downloads for the game witnessed a downward trend, from 19K in the first week of January to around 7K at the end of March. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 200K throughout the quarter.
Another Playrix title, Homescapes, showed a similar revenue pattern to Gardenscapes, peaking at $119K in the same period and ending the quarter at $105K. Downloads saw a modest peak of 9K in late January, with a noticeable dip to 5K by quarter's end. Active users peaked at 211K in mid-February but dropped to 190K by the end of March.
Lastly, DRAGON BALL Z DOKKAN BATTLE from Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. had a more volatile revenue journey, with a significant spike to $198K in the third week of February, then declining to around $62K by the last week of March. Downloads remained low, with a notable increase to 11K in the third week of February. Active users experienced an increase to 106K in the same period, subsequently declining to 79K by the end of the quarter.
