As we transition into the second quarter of 2024, let's take a moment to review the performance of the top city building games on iOS in Europe during the first quarter. The data provided by Sensor Tower offers a clear view of the download trends, revenue, and the number of weekly active users, which are key indicators of an app's engagement and growth.
SimCity BuildIt saw a consistent download pattern, peaking at 32K in the third week of February. Weekly active users fluctuated, reaching a high of 267K in the third week of February before tapering off to 235K by the end of March. Revenue trends showed an initial spike in early February at $139K, followed by a more steady flow, rounding out the quarter at just over $100K.
The fantasy-themed Isekai:Slow Life experienced a decline in downloads, starting the quarter at around 5K and ending at just above 1K. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, with a slight dip in February to 30K, but recovered to almost 30K by the end of March. Revenue peaked mid-January at $88K and saw a dip in early March before climbing back up to $79K in the last week of the quarter.
Puzzles & Chaos: Frozen Castle, blended city building with puzzle elements, saw its downloads start strong at 11K but then gradually decrease to 6.7K by the end of March. The game's weekly active users showed growth over the quarter, starting at 17K and reaching over 21K. Revenue trends were positive, with a peak at $67K in both mid-March and the last week of the quarter.
The Simpsons™: Tapped Out downloads showed variability, with a significant rise in late January to 16K, followed by a decrease towards the end of the quarter. The weekly active users remained above 200K throughout the quarter, peaking at 219K towards the end of January. Revenue for the game experienced a steady increase, culminating in a high of $74K in the third week of March.
Lastly, Merge County® had its downloads peak at 11K in the second week of March, while the number of weekly active users saw an upward trend from 12K in the first week of January to over 18K in the second week of March. The game's revenue also showed growth, starting at $37K and reaching nearly $45K by the end of the quarter.
