In the first quarter of 2024, the top news apps on the iOS platform in the United States showcased varying performance trends. Here's a closer look at how Reddit, X, Nextdoor: Neighborhood Network, NewsBreak: Local News & Alerts, and Citizen: Local Safety Alerts performed.
Reddit experienced a consistent revenue increase, peaking at around $57K in the final week of March. Weekly downloads saw a notable rise in early February, reaching approximately 364K, while active users increased from 13.2M to 13.5M over the quarter.
X generated significant weekly revenue, peaking at roughly $905K in early March. Downloads spiked in early February at around 565K, and active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 27M throughout the quarter.
Nextdoor: Neighborhood Network maintained steady weekly downloads, with a slight increase in mid-February, reaching about 121K. Active users saw a gradual rise from 2.9M to over 3M by the end of March.
NewsBreak: Local News & Alerts exhibited fluctuating download numbers, peaking at around 129K in mid-January. Active users showed an upward trend, reaching nearly 2.8M in mid-March before dipping to approximately 2.2M by the quarter’s end.
Citizen: Local Safety Alerts saw its revenue peak at about $131K in early March. Downloads spiked to around 63K in mid-March, with active users fluctuating but generally increasing to over 623K by the end of March.
