Q1 2024 Performance of Top P2P Payment Apps on iOS in the US

In the first quarter of 2024, the peer-to-peer (P2P) payments landscape on iOS in the United States has shown varied user engagement and download trends across popular apps. Sensor Tower's data gives us a closer look at how these apps are performing.

Cash App maintained a steady flow of downloads, starting the quarter with approximately 315K downloads and peaking at nearly 332K towards the end of February. Weekly active users began at around 13M and saw a slight dip before rising to over 13.6M by the end of February, then settling at approximately 12.9M by the quarter's end.

Venmo experienced downloads in the range of 171K to 186K throughout the quarter. The app's weekly active users started at over 11M, dipped to around 10.5M in early January, then rebounded to nearly 11.8M in late February before dropping to just over 10.9M by March 25.

Zelle saw downloads fluctuating between 155K and 190K. The user base showed a slight decrease, starting the quarter with over 807K active users and ending with nearly 797K, despite a peak of about 853K active users in late February.

OPay-We are beyond Banking, while smaller in user base, showed an interesting trend with downloads starting at about 7K and spiking to 14K in the last week of March. Weekly active users hovered around 104K in early January, dipped to 99K in mid-February, and rose to roughly 112K by the end of March.

Lastly, PalmPay - Transfers, Bills downloads ranged from 5.5K to 8.4K. The app's weekly active users started at approximately 118K, saw a low of 105K in late February, and ended the quarter with about 109K users.
