In the first quarter of 2024, the beauty retail app landscape has seen varied performance across the top applications in the United States. Sensor Tower's comprehensive data showcases the trends in downloads and active users for these leading platforms.
Sephora US: Makeup & Skincare experienced a high starting point with downloads peaking at 175K in the first week of January, yet observed a gradual decrease to 105K by the end of March. Weekly active users started strong at 1.28M, dipping to 1.14M mid-quarter, but rebounded to 1.22M towards the end of March.
For Ulta Beauty: Makeup & Skincare, downloads kicked off at 155K and saw fluctuations, ending at a lower point of 73K. Active users showed a declining trend from 1.13M to 970K over the quarter.
The app Flip.shop began with impressive download numbers at 220K but experienced a significant drop off, concluding the quarter at 39K. Weekly active users paralleled this trend, starting at 135K and decreasing to 47K by March's end.
OnSkin - AI Product Scanner showed a more stable revenue pattern with some peaks and valleys, starting at $24K and ending slightly higher at $25K in the last week of March. Downloads began at 85K, had a mid-quarter dip, and ended at 19K. Active users started at 161K and slightly declined to 145K.
Lastly, IPSY: Personalized Beauty maintained a steady performance with downloads beginning at 19K and ending at 10K. Active user counts were relatively stable, starting at 227K and ending the quarter at 194K.
