In the first quarter of 2024, the ridesharing landscape in Australia saw consistent user engagement with the top applications according to data from Sensor Tower. Here's a snapshot of how these apps performed on the unified platform of iOS and Android.
Uber - Request a ride maintained a steady upward trend in both downloads and weekly active users (WAUs). The downloads started at approximately 27K in the first week of January and peaked at nearly 35K towards the end of February. The WAUs showed a consistent increase from about 736K to 860K by mid-March, ending the quarter with around 819K active users.
DiDi Rider: Affordable rides also experienced a gradual climb in downloads, beginning the quarter with 19K and reaching 24K by late March. The weekly active users showed a more fluctuating trend, starting at around 298K and peaking at 349K in mid-February, before slightly dipping to 322K by the end of the quarter.
The Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver app saw its downloads increase from 7K to 9K over the quarter. Weekly active users had a slight decrease from 247K in the first week of January to 222K by the quarter's end.
Bolt: Request a Ride had a modest presence in terms of downloads, starting at 4K and reaching a slight peak of 3.4K in the last week of March. Its active users remained relatively stable, hovering around the 55K to 58K range throughout the quarter.
Lastly, DiDi Driver: Drive & Earn Cash showed the smallest figures but positive trends nonetheless. Downloads began at 2K and saw a gradual increase to almost 2.7K, with weekly active users starting at 3.2K and ending at 3.2K after some fluctuation.
