In the first quarter of 2024, the carpooling and ridesharing app market in Kenya saw varied performance across the top five applications, as tracked by Sensor Tower. Here's an overview of their weekly downloads, active users, and revenue trends.
Throughout the quarter, Faras saw a significant increase in weekly downloads, starting from around 7K in early January and peaking at approximately 96K in mid-March. Weekly active users also showed a consistent upward trend, beginning at 147K and reaching over 302K by the end of March.
Downloads for Bolt: Request a Ride fluctuated throughout the quarter, with numbers ranging from 13K to 22K. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 215K and ending the quarter at around 252K, showing some growth despite minor fluctuations.
Uber - Request a ride experienced a steady pattern in weekly downloads, hovering between 9K and 14K. Active users consistently increased from 269K at the start of January to approximately 309K by the end of March.
The performance of inDrive. Save on city rides was more modest, with weekly downloads ranging from 2K to 3K. Active users showed a slight decline over the quarter, starting at around 81K and ending at 64K.
Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver maintained a stable trend in weekly downloads, fluctuating between 2K and 3K. Active users remained consistent, with minor fluctuations around the 22K mark throughout the quarter.
