During the first quarter of 2024, the carpooling and ridesharing app landscape in the United States has seen fluctuating engagement across the top platforms. Sensor Tower provides a close look at the performance trends for these apps on unified platforms.

Uber - Request a ride maintained a strong user base with weekly active users peaking at 12M in mid-March, although it experienced a slight dip to 11.6M towards the end of March. Downloads showed a similar trend, with a noticeable dip in early January to around 290K, followed by a recovery to approximately 350K in mid-March, and stabilizing at 331K by the end of the quarter.

Lyft, another major player, saw its weekly active users fluctuate, starting at 5.7M in early January, dipping to 4.9M by the end of the month, and climbing back up to 5.7M by mid-March. Downloads for Lyft followed a similar pattern, initially at 235K, dropping to 204K, and then rising to 257K before settling at 232K by the quarter's end.

The Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver app showed a steady number of weekly active users, starting the quarter at 2.7M and ending slightly lower at 2.4M. Downloads started at 146K, with minor fluctuations, and ended the quarter at around 132K.

For Lyft Driver, the weekly active users remained relatively stable, beginning at 606K and ending the quarter at 604K. Downloads saw a slight decline from 49K in the first week to 45K in the last week of March.

Lastly, Bolt: Request a Ride had the smallest user base among the top apps, with weekly active users starting at 58K and ending at 46K. Downloads began at 44K, dipped to 25K in early February, and slightly increased to 34K by the end of the quarter.
