In the first quarter of 2024, the top 5 communication apps in Australia showed varying performance trends. Here’s a detailed look at their weekly downloads, revenue, and active user metrics, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 115K during the week of February 12. Weekly active users saw a rise from around 19.2M at the beginning of January to almost 20.8M in mid-February. Revenue trends were relatively stable, with weekly figures hovering around $500, peaking at $590 in the weeks of March 4 and March 18.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained strong weekly download numbers, reaching a high of about 74K in the week of February 26. Active users remained steady, with minor fluctuations, starting at 7.2M and closing the quarter at approximately 7.3M.
Snapchat from Snap Inc showcased consistent revenue generation, with weekly figures around $160K to $170K. Downloads peaked at 33K in the last week of March, while active users fluctuated slightly, starting at 4.6M and ending at roughly 4.8M.
Microsoft Edge: AI browser by Microsoft Corporation saw an increase in weekly downloads, reaching 38K in mid-March. Active users grew from 515K at the beginning of January to over 608K by mid-March. Revenue, although modest, showed growth, peaking at $273 in the week of March 11.
Telegram from Telegram FZ-LLC displayed consistent weekly downloads, peaking at around 31K in mid-March. Active users varied, starting at 684K and ending close to 669K by the end of the quarter. Revenue showed a positive trend, reaching a high of $14K in the last week of February.
